The 14th annual Greek Festival takes place at Francis Field on Castillo Drive today and Sunday.
Greek food, Greek bands and entertainment will be featured along with arts and crafts vendors.
This festival celebrates the city’s Greek history which principally began with the arrival in1777 of  600 survivors of an ill-fated indigo plantation south of St. Augustine. They came from Minorca, Italy and Greece to find a new life in the New World.Today their descendants continue to keep their culture alive. Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church sponsors the Greek Festival.
The festival hours today are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. Admission is $2 per person and children under 12 get in free.
