Germany’s Orthodox Metropolis Is 50
Official guests from the Bavarian community and members of the Greek community attended the celebration that took place at the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Germany (Griech.-Orthodoxe Metropolie von Deutschland). The event was organized to celebrate the fifty years from the foundation of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Germany.
The Bishop of Germany Agoustin, Cardinal Archbishop of Munich and Freising, Reinhard Marx, Archbishop Emeritus of Munich and Freising, Friedrich Wetter, the Bavarian Minister of Education and Religion, Ludwig Spaenle, the Consul General of Greece in Munich, Sofia Yrammata and municipal councilor of Munich, Constantine Yiannakatos, were among the attendants.
The celebration was also attended by representatives of the Romanian and the Bulgarian Orthodox Church in Germany as well as a multitude of clergymen from the orthodox parishes of Munich, Nuremberg and Augsburg.
After the celebration at the Greek Orthodox Metropolis, there was a gala at the Center of the parish while at the same time the Bishop of Germany, Agoustin, hosted a dinner in honor of the official guests.
