Patriarch Kirill calls on people of Moldavia to keep Orthodox faith
Chisinau, October 10, Interfax - Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has called on the people of Mold to keep Orthodox faith.
"We tie the revival of the nations living on the territories in the care of the Russian [Orthodox] Church with a revival of faith," the Patriarch told hundreds of believers after consecration of the church in Kurkyevsky Monastery, 60 kilometers from Chisinau.
"We are telling our compatriots: learn to combine faith and prayer with education, work, and science and you will avoid repeating the mistakes of the past, mistakes made by those who now see spiritual emptiness and a tragic human crisis in outwardly prosperous countries," he said.
Patriarch Kirill recalled that Moldavia has had "difficult years of testing and an era of theomachism together with the entire Church," but Orthodox faith was not conquered.
The Patriarch wished to all people of Moldavia to feel the presence of God in their lives and to have "a live and strong faith."
Patriarch Kirill was accompanied by Moldavian acting president Marian Lupu, ex-president Vladimir Voronin and Metropolitan of Chisinau and All Moldavia Vladimir.
